Westons Mill Road Work Postponed

The Turnpike Authority is delaying construction to see if area homes will be disturbed by vibrations.

The installation of steel sheeting in the ground on the east side of Westons Mill Road in East Brunswick will be delayed by two to three weeks at the request of local officials.

The work, part of the improvements being made at Interchange 9 of the New Jersey Turnpike, was scheduled to begin June 24. The Authority agreed to delay the work and to provide surveying and monitoring to assure that it will not cause vibration damage to homes in the area.

Turnpike Authority engineers have no reason to believe that the work has the potential to cause any damage but agreed to do the surveying and monitoring in order to address concerns raised by residents.

Residents of neighborhoods near the site will be notified before the work begins.
