CBO ESTIMATES SHOW MEDICARE CUTS WILL BE NEARLY 50% HIGHER
DAYTON, NJ – Eric Beck, a small business owner and the Republican Nominee for U.S. Congress in New Jersey’s 12th District, slammed Rep. Rush Holt today for his repeated votes to gut Medicare by an astounding $741 billion. The new figure, nearly 50 percent higher than earlier projections, was recently discovered, buried deep within Congressional Budget Office reports on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare).
“Major proponents of ObamaCare, like Mr. Holt, were repeatedly warned that their estimates of the law’s cost to Medicare were wrong,” Beck said. “Now, it’s come to light that the cuts that will be made to Medicare will cost the program $741 billion, thereby jeopardizing the future healthcare coverage of our senior citizens. Americans can finally see through the smoke and mirrors that politicians like Mr. Holt used by trying to hide the real severity of these cuts.
“Finally seeing through the fraudulent presentation on which ObamaCare was sold, our fears have been confirmed that this could mean disastrous benefit cuts for seniors. Mr. Holt and other politicians in Washington can’t hide any longer from their plan to bankrupt Medicare in order to push our nation toward a single-payer system.
“We have to wonder whether Mr. Holt was lying or just uninformed when he told an audience in 2011, ‘I am not going to let anything happen to Medicare as you know it now.’ ”
Beck said that repealing and replacing ObamaCare will be his first priority in Congress.
“The first step is repealing this destructive law before it endangers our seniors and robs them of their benefits. Medicare must be reformed and strengthened – not bankrupted. But, we also need to provide alternatives; and I believe that a value-based healthcare system that reduces cost, improves quality and expands access, all while putting patients first, is the solution we need to make healthcare affordable for all Americans, including seniors.”

Max, you need to stop drinking the Kool Aid. As for Lawrenceville Council... you have yet to tell us where we can cut. and you saw the books. so how are we to believe you... you are the classic moaner... BTW, the average income in Lawrence is around 65k... Under the Ryan Budget or the Romeny plan, those people will pay over $4,000 more a year in taxes, and the debt won't even start to go down for decades as even MORE burden is placed on local Government so expect even higher property taxes.... that is just reality... read. read conservatives like Reagan Budget Director David Stockman etc... get away from the pajama media. big govt websites... read real wonks who get this stuff. they all will confirm this spin as contactual lies... stuff we don't need here or anywhere in this country.
Corporatist R's and D's see Medicare as a way to make healthcare a larger for profit enterprise... Call me crazy, but this is the one thing in the world I don't want a bean counter crunching for profit. The days of the family doctor and community hospitals are long gone... Replaced by mega health concerns who could care less about the health of a community, but health demographics of illness and how to monetize that. If you think any differently, think about like any other service industry. Think an energy company drilling etc, they may sponcer a few local events, but the driving force is a quarterly profit that beats Wall Stret valuation. I think it is time we remind ourselves that gov't is for the people. And Corporations are NOT people.
Talk about a parrot repeating the talking points of a particular party. That's YOU (Patrick) to a "T" Finally, as far as council, are you defending them now? Back in April you wanted them out. Now you're back on their side? How typical. The 3 man committee laid out 20+ recommendations to help balance the budget and lower our taxes so get a clue, Patrick. What have you done, exactly to fix the problem?
First they appealed to the BRAC Commission, and then they introduced bills to congress to stop the closure and analyze the economic impacts, etc. (this in 2007) "In a united front, legislators from both sides of the aisle introduced four bills — two in the House of Representatives and two companion bills in the Senate." (from the Asbury Park Press article) Do you have any idea the effort and time required to introduce legislation for consideration by Congress? Congress voted "NO" on this legislation (or maybe they never made it out of committee, I don't know) but, in the end, Ft Monmouth was closed (officially in 2011). When it was apparent that nothing more could be done to stop the closure, NJ politicians started working on getting the area redeveloped. OK..I'm done with this red herring FT Monmouth issue..
OK, and I have a bridge to sell you.
I never wanted Lawrence Council 'out' I wanted them to find ways to work within the budget without huge tax hikes and service drops. To protect our property values.. to stand up for what we are owed by Trenton.. and one of the things I suggested, they are trying in getting paybacks from the Rider and Lawrenceville School. Your suggestions where attack people making 60 to 70k a year as lazy. And sadly I work in New York City, so I really just don't have time to get involved micro locally.
Taxes on "Innovator Drug Companies" - Oh yeah, freaking brilliant. Let's tax the companies that are trying to innovate. Taxes on Indoor Tanning services. (No, I never have or never have used one, but seriously, Obama will tax anyone and everyone) Again, do you think the tanning salons will eat the tax hike or pass it on? A lot of middle class folks use the tanning bed! How about the new tax in 2013 that when you sell your house, 3.8% of the profit now goes to the Federal Government. Yes, I know you're going to say this only affects the rich, but not so. It will affect every homeowner sooner or later (especially as the housing market recovers in the next 5-10 yrs.) Everyone will have forgotten about the Complainer-in-Chief, but we will still be paying for his tax hikes. I can go on. 100's of new taxes signed into law by Obama, Pelosi, Reid. Why do you think Pelosi said "You have to pass it to see what's in it." Yes, vote for Obama. He's got your back! What a joke. Four more years of Chicago style politics, that will actually be worse, since he'll be accountable to No-one. Remember him telling Vladimir Putin he'd have more flexibility after the election? And you're afraid of Romney?
You complain about everyone, but you do nothing.

now the reality of Obamacare. Once Obamacare is fully enacted, this is the honest truth about extra taxes, an extra the medicare payroll taxes will remain the same for those making under 200k single or 250k married, if you make more then that they will increase from 2.9% to 3.8% on the money you make over the 200k/250k mark. Another increase is that investment income will be factored into income for Medicare taxes. So if you make more you pay more... as for tanning... Look, we charge higher taxes for cigarettes and booze... cause we know that they are drains on our healthcare system. Well so is tanning. And just like smoking and drinking, if you want to do it you will pay a premium to do so. and thus now tanning is included in the sin taxes. so be it. Will it kill small businesses? no. In a CNN article "A full 78% of the salon owners polled reported that their clients did not seem to care about the tax, according to a study conducted by Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine." as for the Medical Device tax, I'm not happy with it being revenue agnostic, but fact is any loss will be offset by a reduction in fed taxes that is based on P&L. and then... http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=3684
unbelievable.
"this Beck guy" do you even know what his plan is to bring jobs to Central Jersey? and his asserting in this blog post that Holt ' plan(s)to bankrupt Medicare' is just an outright distortion and fear tactic. If anything we need more stand up people like Rush Holt in Washington...
