Honoring Our Veterans in East Brunswick

Veterans Day ceremony will feature guest speaker Major General Robert Kenny.

East Brunswick will honor the sacrifice of the men and woman of our Armed Forces with a special Veterans Day observance next week.

The ceremony will be held on Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m. in Veterans Park at the East Brunswick Municipal Complex, located at 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive.

Taking part in the program will be bagpipe player John O’Keefe, while John Marmion, Chaplain of VFW Post 133 will play T.A.P.S.

Deacon Jack Kenny of St. Bartholomew Church will deliver the Invocation, Rabbi Eric Eisenkramer of Temple B’nai Shalom will deliver the Benediction, and Irwin Steinlight of the Vietnam Veterans of America will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.  

Wreath bearers for the event will be Ira Roth of the JWV Post 311, Thomas Coohill, Commander of VFW Post 133 and Paul Deutsch of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

The East Brunswick Community Chorus will lead in song and Boy Scout Troop 223 will assist with the program. 

The township has lined up Major General Robert Kenny as this year's guest speaker. As a U.S. Air Force Reserve, Major General Kenny is responsible for the professional oversight of over 900 Reserve Judge Advocates and Paralegals in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, with more than 200 offices at every level of command.  He also handles the development of policies affecting all Air Force Reserve component members, and manages the recruitment, training, utilization, and deployment of Reserve legal forces worldwide.  

Kenny also assists the Judge Advocate General in the professional supervision and management of 4,400 Active-Duty, Guard, and Reserve personnel assigned to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.  In his duties, Kenny provides legal advice to the Chief of the Air Force Reserve and Commander, Air Force Reserve Command.
