Cut Your Own Christmas Tree

Do you prefer to trim a freshly cut tree? Here are some places in the area where you can go to choose and chop.

If your family prefers to deck the halls with a freshly cut Christmas tree, there are several in Middlesex County to choose from.    

Here is a list of farms in Middlesex County, according to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture:

Giamarese Farm, 155 Fresh Ponds Road, East Brunswick

Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closed Monday through Dec. 23.

Griffin Nurseries, 190 Fresh Ponds Road, South Brunswick

Open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through Dec. 22.

Griffin Nurseries offers precut trees and live trees, refreshments, and visits from Santa on the weekends.

Habiak Farms, 315 Deans Rhode Hall Road, South Brunswick                                                      

Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23.

This farm offers a selection of pine and green decorations, in addition to the trees, such as wreaths and garland, grave blankets and holly.

Barclay's Tree Farm, 35 Orchardside Drive, Cranbury

Open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23. 

Barclay's boasts more than 1,000 trees, as well as decorations, wreaths and garland for sale.

Lantier Tree Farm, 163 Dey Grove Road, Monroe Township    

Open from 9 a.m. to dusk daily through Dec. 23.     

More than 3,000 trees are available at this location, as well as decorations, a Christmas shop, refreshments and hayrides.

Simonson Farms, 118 Dey Road, Cranbury                                      

Open from noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends through Dec. 23. Customers are advised to call ahead on weekdays during inclement weather.

Simonson Farms offers a Christmas shop and 2,500 trees to choose from, including some over 10 feet tall.
