Hayrides, Wreaths, and the Holiday Spirit

Giamarese Farm offers pre-cut and cut-your-own trees. Come by on the weekend for a hayride.

Picking out a Christmas tree may seem like nothing more than fun and games. But at Giamarese Farm, it's serious business.

From blue spruces, to concolor firs, from cut-your-owns to pre-cut trees, picking the perfect tree at Giamarese or anywhere else is an important part of Christmas time. Here are a few things you might need to know about the variety of trees available these days.

Concolor Fir - soft, silvery blue flat needles, 2 to 3 inches long with a citrus aroma. Excellent needle retention.

Douglas Fir - lush, blue-green needles, soft and fragrant, 1 inch long.
Sturdy branches, outstanding needle retention.

Fraser Fir - soft, emerald green flat needles with silvery undersides. 3/4 to 1 inch long, bottle brush texture. Strong branches with wonderful aroma, outstanding needle retention.

Corado Blue Spruce - dense, pyramid shape, silvery to dark green, 3/4-1 1/4 inch needles. Recommended for animals that climb because of sharp needles.

Norway Spruce - shiny, dark green needles, 3/4 of an inch long.

Pre-Cut - Frazer and Douglas Fir.

If you do head to Giamarese Farm, be sure to take advanatabe of everything they have in store. The farm is celebratinbg 70 years and has hayrides and music planned.

Hayrides roll every hour from noon to 4 p.m.  from Dec. 3 to Dec. 18 on Saturdays and Sundays. Free parking, no reservations needed. Hayrides are $4 per person. (children under 3 years old ride free)

A variety of wreaths, garland, grave blankets, ornaments, tree stands and accessories are available at the Farm Market. Arrangements for delivering firewood can be made by calling the farm market. Collard, mustard and turnip greens are also are in the field for pick-your-own. Call the farm market to confirm their availability.
