Harvie's Inferno: Yeah, They Play Hockey on Super Bowl Sunday

Harvie's Inferno: The Devilsaholic keeps it short and sweet, and gushes over a third-liner for a bit.

I, like most Devils fans, had high hopes coming into the weekend. Three games against Atlantic Division teams. Those hopes were squashed like an ant interrupting a picnic by Saturday.

The Devils were pretty lousy on Thursday against the Islanders, and really sucked it up at the Consol Energy Center against Sid the Crying Little Kid Crosby and his band of non-tuxedoed Penguins. Speaking of the Crying Little Kid, how many of you want to know what Patrik Elias said to him after that call.

The Devils were not so hot on Sunday either. Giving the Islanders seven power plays is not a way to earn a win, but somehow the Devils did. And they did so with poise. Even though they spent that much time in the box, the team was able to out-shoot the Isles 26-22. They also had some excellent backstopping by Johan "Moooooooooooooooossssssssssssse" Hedberg who got the shut out in the Devils 3-0 win. Steve Bernier, the third line, tough-as-nails rocking winger tallied two goals in the third and David Clarkson knock in an empty netter to give the Devils a 3-0 win.

It was not a great weekend for the Devils. The team earned just 3 of a possible six points. There were some good moments. Except for Saturday. That was just terrible and I hope the Devils are not intimidated the next time they face the Pens.

I'm just hoping the Devils can build on the momentum of the third period on Sunday and carry that into their meeting with the Rangers Tuesday night at the Rock in Newark.

Well, I'm keeping this short because there is some NFL game on tonight or something.

Let's go Devils!
