OBITUARY: Doris M. (Haggerty) Fleming

Doris M. (Haggerty) Fleming, 83, died Saturday, July 14, in Succasunna

Doris M. (Haggerty) Fleming, 83, died Saturday, July 14, in Succasunna.  A resident of Succasunna for the past four years, Doris spent most of her adult life in East Brunswick, where she lived for nearly 50 years.

Born to John and Theresa Haggerty, she spent her childhood in Hoboken with her sister, Patricia.  After graduating from St. Michael’s High School in Hoboken, she went on to obtain a Biology degree from St. Elizabeth’s in Convent Station (Morristown).  This was a rare feat for a woman in the early 1950’s.  When she moved to East Brunswick, she became heavily involved with the Republican Party.  During these years, she was honored to represent the State of New Jersey at the National Convention, serve as the head of the Republican Party in Middlesex County, and spent 20 years on the Planning Board of East Brunswick.

Along with her husband, Joseph, she was an active member of St. Bartholomew R..C Church.

Doris is survived by her sons, Joseph and John along with their wives, Lori and Elizabeth, respectively.  In addition, she has five grandchildren, Joseph III, Sean, Thomas, Christine and Allison.  Predeceasing her were her husband of 53 years, Joseph, and her sister, Patricia.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, at 8:30 a.m. in the , 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at , East Brunswick.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, N.J. 07834.  For information, directions or to leave condolences to family, visit www.rezemfh.com
