OBITUARY: Felicia Joan Zochowski,

Felicia Joan Zochowski, 94, died Sunday.

Felicia Joan Zochowski, 94, died Sunday, Dec. 9, Abbey Delray Health Center, Delray Beach, Fla.

Born in Jersey City in 1918 to Henrietta and Walter Maronski, she grew up in South River until she was married to her beloved Theodore Zochowski, her husband for 62 years before his passing in 2001.  She and her husband resided in South River, East Brunswick and Brick Township before moving to Florida in 1985.

A talented woman, she was an avid reader with a warm smile and matching personality. She achieved a degree as a practical nurse, but chose an active career in the business world, involved in various retail and commercial endeavors.  She was very active with the National as well as the New Jersey Polish American Community serving in many positions, such as the Commissioner of the Polish National Alliance; the Commissioner for the State of New Jersey Garden State Arts Center Ethnic Festivals; an Officer and past Chairperson of the Polish Heritage Festival held annually at the Garden State Arts Center; as well as many other charitable and civic positions throughout her life.

She was the devoted mother of Richard D. Zochowski Rumson, and T. Robert Zochowski, Jupiter, Fla.; five grandchildren, Karyn L. Twaronite, New York, N.Y.; Christen L. Volk, Rumson; T.R. Zochowski, Jr., Chatham; Marieanne Machida, Chantilly, Va.; Christopher M. Zochowski, Falls Church, Va.; and 15 great grandchildren residing from New York to Virginia.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9 a.m. in the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, South River.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 30 Jackson St., South River, N.J.  08882.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral.  For information, directions or to send condolences to family, visit www.rezemfh.com.
