OBITUARY: Leola Sparks

Leola Sparks passed on Friday, June 15.

Leola Sparks, 96, of East Brunswick and affectionately known as "Nanny," went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday June 15.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 76 years, Winnie Donald Sparks. She is also survived by her four daughters, Dolores Respass of East Brunswick, Mary Marr and her husband, Rev. Ronald Marr ,of Kissimmee, Fla., Lorraine Stearns of Parma, Ohio, and Cynthia McFarren and her husband, Rev. Donald McFarren, of Metuchen. In addition, enduring loved ones include 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was born on April 12, 1916 to George and Josephine Tracy, of Caribou, Maine. On July 7, 1935 she and Winnie were married at the United Baptist Church of Caribou, Maine where they lived and raised their 4 daughters. After 32 years they moved to New Jersey where Leola worked as a practical nurse. Later, Winnie and Leola were both employed by the Boy Scouts of America. Upon retiring they moved to Central Florida where they resided for 24 years. In 2002 they returned to East Brunswick.

All of her life Leola had been actively involved in service at her local church and was always helping and encouraging those in need. Funeral were held Tuesday June 19 at the Metuchen Assembly of God. Relatives and friends called at the Metuchen Assembly of God. Burial followed at Cloverleaf Memorial park, Woodbridge.
