A chemical fire that burned overnight in Bristol, Pa., has caused a sulfur smell in the area.

The East Brunswick Police Department has received several phone calls regarding an unusual odor in the air, the department said in a press release. The source of the unusual odor is from a Chemical Complex in Bristol, Pa., which was struck by lightening last night. Two storage tanks containing Ethyl Acetate and Butyl Acetate were damaged. The N.J. Department of Environmental Protection and the state Department of Health and Senior Services are monitoring the incident. The odor is expected to dissipate over the course of the next several hours. There is no health impact upon New Jersey, said the police department

Residents are recommended to be aware of the ongoing air issues. Any further updates from health officials in New Jersey or Pennsylvania will be passed along.
