UPDATE: Massive Brush Fire Rages In Berkeley,…

Dozens of Car Crashes Reported Due to Freezing Rain

Several slip-and-falls on icy sidewalks reported.

A freezing rain advisory is in effect through Sunday afternoon as East Brunswick Police are urging residents to avoid driving if possible due to extremely hazardous conditions.

Local police departments reported dozens of car crashes and cars off the road since 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning, in addition to a handful of calls for people who fell on the ice.

Local roadways are currently being treated by state, county, and township road crews. Police said that conditions on main roads are improving, but secondary roads, driveways, and sidewalks are still extremely slick.

Residents are urged to use extreme caution when traveling in vehicle or on foot due to the black ice. Less than a tenth of an inch of ice is expected to accumulate through Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The township did a horrible job on the snow removal and saved us a lot of money by not salting any of the roads
