East Brunswick Woman Killed in Crash on Cranbury Road

A 75-year-old woman was killed after her vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in front of the Central School.

A township woman died late Tuesday morning after a serious motor vehicle crash on Cranbury Road.

Phyllis A. Dean 75, of East Brunswick, was pronounced dead following a collision with a telephone pole in front of the Central School, police said.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Dean was headed south in a 2005 Hyundai Elantra when her vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a curb with both drivers’ side tires, according to police. The vehicle then continued southbound on Cranbury Road as it failed to maintain a lane before crashing into a telephone pole in front of Central School, police said.

The vehicle then came to a rest in the southbound lane of the roadway. Trans Med Ambulance Service and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital paramedics arrived and transported Dean to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where she was pronounced dead at 2:27 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone who witnessed the accident or anyone who has information regarding the collision are asked to contact Ptl. David Velez or Ptl. James Angermeier Jr. of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Special Operations Section at 732-390-6969.
