EBPD Accepting Applications for Junior Police Academy

The program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 10-14.

The East Brunswick Police Department is currently accepting applications for the 8th Annual Youth Police Academy. The Academy will begin on July 8, 2013 and conclude on July 12, 2013. Classes will be held between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Churchill Junior High School. In addition, a final graduation ceremony will be held on the evening of July 12th. The Academy can accommodate 30 cadets.

This year’s academy will be open to individuals from 10 to 14 years of age who reside or attend school in East Brunswick. This one-week program will provide an excellent opportunity for young members of the community to get a better understanding on how the East Brunswick Police Department operates and how police officers serve and protect our community. Each cadet will enjoy team building activities and learn a great deal about respect and tolerance while having fun. The program includes field trips to the New Jersey State Police and the East Brunswick Police Training Facility.

For those who are interested in enrolling someone in this program, please complete the application, which is available from the administrative division or can be downloaded via the Police Department’s Community Policing webpage, www.ebpd.net or www.eastbrunswick.org. If you are interested in enrolling more than one person, please complete separate applications for each person.

Completed applications must be returned in person to the East Brunswick Police Department’s Administrative Division accompanied by the enrollment fee of $75 for each cadet attending the academy. This fee may be paid in cash, check, or money order and made payable to “Township of East Brunswick”. This office is located in East Brunswick Police Headquarters, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

We must limit the number of cadets accepted into the program, so please submit your application(s) as soon as possible. Due to a high number of anticipated applicants and the limited class size, cadets who are new to the program may be accepted over previous graduates. The application deadline is June 7, 2013.

Please Note: This is just a notification to students and parents as to the availability of applications. Completed applications must be accompanied by the program fee and submitted in person at the Administrative Division at East Brunswick Police Headquarters no later than the proposed deadline.

If you have any questions, please contact Patrolman Craig Hoover at the Community Policing Office (732) 390-6938.
