UPDATED: Fire Destroys Agate Road Home

Cause of fire yet to be determined.

An Agate Road home was damaged by a fire on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The East Brunswick Police Department responded to the fire at 11:11 p.m. The home was heavily damaged by fire and all three township volunteer fire companies responded (Independent/District 2, Old Bridge/District 1, and Brookview /District 3), as well as engines from South River and Milltown boroughs.

The 57-year-old homeowner was home alone at the time of the fire, along with several pets. She was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for evaluation.  Investigators are still examining the structure but do not believe the fire was suspicious at this time.
