Man Pleads Guilty to Charges of Explicit Conversation

An East Brunswick man pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child, May 31 at Atlantic County Superior Court.

Victor A. Attia, 57, of Wilmot Street in East Brunswick, was arrested and charged Aug. 20, 2010, after he allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations during July of that year with an undercover officer whom the defendant thought was a 14-year-old girl, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.

Attia faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced, according to the prosecutors office. Attia will be subject to parole supervision for life and must register as a Megan’s Law offender.

An Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted him on Oct. 19, 2010, according to Assistant Prosecutor Janet Gravitz, who represented the state.

Superior Court Judge Max Baker presided over the plea hearing.
