Main Street Crash Sends Spotswood Man to Hospital

A Sunday night accident on Main Street injured a motorcyclist and tied up traffic for a few hours.

A motorcycle crash closed a stretch of Main Street on Sunday night and sent a Spotswood man to the hospital.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, John Ovaduke, 59, of Spotswood, was driving a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle in the westbound left lane of on Main Street, according to a Nixle message from the East Brunswick Police Department.

Marcus Creer, 37, of Kendall Park was stopped a stop sign at the Route 18 south exit ramp onto Main Street, and made a left turn onto Main Street in front of Ovaduke, whose motorcycle skidded and went down on its left side, sideswiping the rear driver's side of Creer's 2006 Pontiac G6, according to the message.

Ovaduke was thrown from the motorcycle, and landed on the other side of the road, while his motorcycle slid into the opposing lane of traffic and was hit by a 2012 Chevrolet van, driven by James Lavigne, 41, of Monroe Township, according to the message.

Ovaduke was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by the East Brunswick Rescue Squad and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University hospital, and is listed in stable condition.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who was a witness or has information regarding the crash is asked to call patrolman Thomas Kienle or patrolman James Angermeier of the East Brunswick Police Department Special Operations Section at (732) 390-6969.
