Police are searching for three men who broke into a home on Louis Street and robbed the occupants, including two residents who later were arrested by police and charged with drug offenses.
The three males, two of whom were armed during the robbery at 4 a.m. on March 13, 2014, were described by the occupants of the home:
One was identified as a heavy-set Hispanic male with a thin beard and wearing a grey shirt. The second suspect was described as a thin, Hispanic or a light-skinned African-American male. The third male wore a ski mask and dark hood.
The men demanded drugs and money from the residents and fled after taking a number of personal items.
One of the residents, Srijith Aravinda, 20, was stuck in the face during the robbery and later was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick
He subsequently was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute an undisclosed amount of marijuana that was seized from the home by police.
Another resident, Kawan Brown, 19, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Neither Brown nor other occupants was injured during the robbery.
An investigation by the New Brunswick Police Department is active and is continuing. As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Aravinda and Brown are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
