New Officers to Get Sworn in Today

The East Brunswick Police Department will welcome three new patrolmen this afternoon.

East Brunswick Department of Public Safety will swear in three new officers to the Police Department, at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 2).

Patrolman David Methner, Patrolman Robert Theoret and Patrolman Alexander Danese will replace members of the department that have already retired.

Patrolman Methner, 23, is a 2006 graduate of East Brunswick High School and a 2009 graduate of Rowan University, where he graduated in just three years with a degree in Law & Justice. He was a member of Rowan’s Track & Field team as a javelin thrower and was academically recognized in two honor societies. He also served in the campus security patrol. Before that he worked as a lifeguard at the Crystal Springs Aquatic Center on Dunham’s Corner Road.

He completed his basic police training at the Ocean County Police Academy in May and served as a Special Police Officer with the Seaside Heights Police Department for the last two summers. He was serving as a Special Police Officer with the East Brunswick Police Department and is a member of the East Brunswick Fire District No. 2 as a volunteer fireman.

Patrolman Methner lives in East Brunswick. After completing field training, he will be assigned to the Patrol Section.

Patrolman Theoret, 24, is a 2005 graduate of Old Bridge High School. He graduated from Brookdale Community College in 2007 and Jersey City College in 2010, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He worked for many seasons as a deck-hand/mate on a charter fishing boat and later completed studies for his 100-ton captain’s license. He also is captain of the party boat “Sea Hawk” based in Perth Amboy.

Patrolman Theoret completed his basic police training at the Somerset County Police Academy as an Alternate Route, graduating in December 2010. He lives in Old Bridge. After completing field training, he will be assigned to the Patrol Section.

Patrolman Danese, 25, is a 2004 graduate of South Hunterdon High School where he played and was captain of the varsity football, basketball and baseball teams. He graduated from The College of Saint Elizabeth in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutrition while earning academic honors and the Dean’s list. He was previously a member of the Fairleigh Dickinson University football team where he made the Dean’s list before transferring. He also worked as a Dietetic Assistant for Morristown Hospital and as a laborer/carpenter in the construction field.

He completed his basic police training at the Somerset County Police Academy as an Alternate Route graduating in June. Patrolman Danese lives in Stockton. After completing field training, he will be assigned to the Patrol Section.
