Police Department Gets a New Member

Patrolman Christian Longhitano was sworn-in during a ceremony Tuesday at the East Brunswick Municipal Building.

The East Brunswick Department of Public Safety has a new face, Patrolman Christian Longhitano.

Officer Longhitano joined the ranks Tuesday at his swearing-in ceremony at the East Brunswick Municipal Conference Room.

Patrolman Longhitano, 29, is a 2001 graduate of Old Bridge High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science. While attending college, he volunteered as a member of the Cheesequake Volunteer First Aid Squad in Old Bridge, and upon graduating served as an EMT Supervisor for the newly formed Old Bridge Township Emergency Medical Services Inc.

Patrolman Longhitano completed his basic police training at the Essex County College Police Academy in May 2008. Upon graduation, he served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office. He was serving as a Special Police Officer for the Pine Beach Police Department before being appointed full-time in May 2011.

He was recently honored by the Ocean and Monmouth County Traffic Officers Association, receiving the 2011 Kimberley Smith-Ames DWI Prevention Award.

Patrolman Longhitano resides in Old Bridge. After completing his field training, he will be assigned to the Patrol Section.
