Power Lines Electrify Crystal Springs fence

Patrons were evacuated and no one was hurt after electric power llnes fell into the metal fence at Crystal Springs

Downed power lines hit the metal fence surrounding the Crystal Springs Aquatic Center at 2:33 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 6), forcing the park to be evacuated.

Emergency Management Coordinator Austin Kosik said the lines electrified the entire fence and caused a small fire. PSE&G was called to cut power to the lines.

The park was evacuated of everyone other than management staff and no one was injured.

“They have a really, really good plan in place and everyone was in a shelter,” said Kosik

Crystals Springs will be closed for the remainder of the day and is expected to open tomorrow, Thursday, July 8.

Brookview Fire District 3 and the East Brunswick Police Department responded to the incident.
