Reward Offered for Info on Elfstrom Homicide

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Anthony A. Caputo, chairman of Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County Inc., announced today that rewards are being offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the homicide of an 84-year-old woman who was killed in her home in East Brunswick four years ago.

The rewards were offered to encourage people to come forward with information on the death of Ellen Elfstrom of 11 Lee Street, East Brunswick. She was found dead in her home on May 1, 2009, at 6:47 p.m. by East Brunswick police.

Police went to the home after being told that Ms. Elfstrom had not been seen for several days.

An autopsy performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Ms. Elfstrom died from blunt force trauma and that the manner of death was homicide.

Police continue to investigate the homicide and regularly review information in the case, but no arrests have been made.

Ms. Elfstrom’s relatives also have been offering a $2,500 reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of a suspect.
