Sayreville Woman Dies in Accident Tuesday Evening

The 47-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating an accident that took the life of a 47-year-old Sayreville woman at 10:50 p.m., Tuesday near the South Brunswick border.

Police from East Brunswick and South Brunswick, units from the Monmouth Junction Fire Department and Monmouth Junction Rescue Squad from South Brunswick and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Paramedics responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on the southbound side of Cranbury Road just before the intersection of Davidson Mill Road.

According to police, Jane Karuga, 47, of Sayreville, was driving a 1997 Nissan Sentra when she allegedly crossed the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, where she collided with a 2001 Dodge Ram, being driven by Warren J. Himich, 57, of Bethel Park, Pa. Karuga’s vehicle hit Himich’s vehicle head on and she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Himich was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
