Unidentified Man Hit By Car on Route 18

Police need help identifying a man who was seriously hurt on Tuesday morning.

Police need help identifying a man who was hit by a car at the intersection of Route 18 and Icker Avenue this morning.

According to police, the victim, an unidentified Asian male who is approximately 60 years old, was crossing southbound Route 18 near Icker Avenue toward the Old Bridge Turnpike while carrying a Schwinn bicycle at 8:54 a.m.

The victim was hit by a 2009 Toyota Camry driven by Maksim Brusnikin, 22, of Morganville, according to police. Brusnikin was traveling southbond on Route 18 in the left lane when he saw the victim in the middle of the road. Brusknikin tried to stop but was unable to do so in time.

TransMed Ambulance Service and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victim to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. 

Anyone who may be familiar with an older Asian male who would cross over Route 18 while travelling with a Schwinn bicycle, or who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Patrolman David Velez or Patrolman Sean Garrison of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Special Operations Division at 732-390-6969.
