The Heat Is On: At least, it was for a while, when a Brookdale Community College student . Ultimately, the charges were dropped. We've got to wonder why this student allegedly thought stealing ice would be OK, especially when he paid for the rest of his meal. Maybe he thought it was cool.

There's a Time and A Place ... to have marijuana, and according to the law, it's California after you develop a serious medical condition. , where police say a woman brought pot in her purse. She was caught after she triggered a metal detector alert and her purse was searched, police said. Next time, she'll leave the nail clippers or cell phone at home. And maybe the pot too. Maybe.

In Poor Taste: A Pompton Plains woman's sweet tooth may have proven too powerful to resist. , even though she paid for other items at the counter. We all know getting high can lead people to do stupid, desperate things...but does that even apply to sugar highs?

In Plain Sight: One way to steal a car is to find a street where no one's around and no one's looking, break in, and hotwire the engine. That's the traditional way (at least, we think so, from watching a lot of movies). Another is to show up where there's lots of security cameras around with a flatbed truck and hope no one realizes you're not supposed to be taking multiple vehicles away. ?
