Update: Woman, 83, Killed in Ryders Lane Crash

Monroe woman dies after her car ended up in the wrong lane of traffic on Wednesday.

An 83-year-old woman was killed Wednesday evening after a three-vehicle accident on Ryders Lane.

Lottie Kasprzak, 83, of Monroe, died she lost control of her car, which ended up in the wrong lane of traffic before striking another vehicle, according to police. 

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Kasprzak’s, was headed south on Ryders Lane near Montclair Court in a red 1997 Ford Escort when she lost control of her vehicle. The car hit the curb of the roadway before traveling across both southbound lanes, police said. Kasprzak then struck the left curb and drove across the median, where she struck a black 1999 Lexus 300 operated by Paul Dangelo, 72, of West Long Branch, who was traveling northbound on Ryders Lane, according to police.

A 2013 Lexus ES3 driven by Giuseppe Insigna, 27, of Westfield crashed into the second vehicle from behind, police said. 

After arriving at the scene, officers found Kasprzak was in cardiac arrest, while the other drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries. First responders from the East Brunswick Rescue Squad, East Brunswick Fire District 1, Trans Med Ambulance Service and paramedics worked to save Kasprzak, who was transported by the East Brunswick Rescue Squad to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where she was pronounced dead at 6:20 p.m. 

Dangelo was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Insigna was treated at the scene but refused any further medical attention, police said.
