Council Honors Carl Thomore

EBHS outfielder was drafted this month by the Colorado Rockies.

It’s been an exciting week for Carl Thomore.

The East Brunswick High School Senior and standout baseball player was the , and can lay claim to being the first EBHS athlete drafted by a professional team in township history.

Now, he can add street namesake to his list of accomplishments.

At Monday’s Township Council Meeting, Mayor David Stahl declared a proclamation in Thomore’s honor, renaming Civic Center Drive to Carl Thomore Drive until June 27th.

“Our school system does a great job of educating our students,” Stahl said in front of the council. “It’s not only the books, it’s the arts, it’s the sciences and it’s also the athletics. Carl is a dedicated team member, and a perfect example of the hard work and determination that pays off.”

Thomore, who finished the season with a .493 batting average, three home runs and 25 stolen bases, was on hand with his father and Head Baseball Coach Tom Hokenjos to receive the honor.

“My life’s been a wild ride, and this is a nice way to cap off everything and let reality start setting in,” he said. “I also appreciate everything (Mayor Stahl and the Township Council) do for East Brunswick High School, especially athletics, since that’s the department I specialize in.”
