East Brunswick Resident Angry Over Tree Removal

The Patch reader says they were not notified of the removal.

An East Brunswick Patch reader reported in an email that the township doesn't warn residents before cutting down trees.

"Why is it that the township of East Brunswick can come to our street and cut down a tree without so much of a warning, reason, or any other notification?" they wrote.

The reader stated that they only avoided having their car damaged because they were home at the time. Once they spotted the crew, they were able to move their car.

"Now only a stump remains," they say, "and the road is damaged by our driveway."

"It's not really a common complaint," said Mike Reissner, the Director of Recreation, Parks, and Community Services for East Brunswick. "It's hard for us to notify every body when we're going to be taking the tree down."

He stated that the township does a yearly dead tree survey, and that they would not take a healthy tree down without reason.

Reissner also stated that if the residents choose, they can go through the tree replacement program in September.
