The following was submitted by Nancy Pinkin

1) I bring to East Brunswick and the job of Councilwoman, a lifetime of service to my community. Building on a Masters of Public Administration, I have worked in all phases of business and government including finance, personnel, facilities, planning and budget. This experience has trained me to get the highest quality at the least cost, providing vital services and building our future, with a conservative approach to cost and a commitment to lowering taxes. I believe in open respectful government, shared services, environmental initiatives, and improving quality of life in our town. I actively promote business development to support our economy and create jobs. I have been involved in Scouting, sports, religious and social activities. I have been active in many civic and professional programs and have received numerous honors. My husband, Dr. James Salwitz, and I have committed our personal and professional lives to public service.

2) We have cut taxes by over $8 million dollars, dissolved the Sewage Authority, restructured departments and staff, while improving public safety, the library and quality of life.  In the years I have served on Council, I am proud to have preserved hundreds of acres of open space including Heavenly Farms, Tammarack Hollow and now Foerter Farm, which reduced over-development. We completed the long-term plan for our Parks and Recreation System, which included the development of the fields, dog park, bike paths and the level playing field at Heavenly Farms. We completed the development of our second transportation center. We created a Community Garden, established a drop off station for refuse and started “Freecycle” to allow swapping by residents of still useful items. We offered excellent services for senior residents, and our youth. We have maintained an excellent police, first aid and fire services and top rated schools.

3) The key issues in this race are those of professional experience and commitment. Our challengers have failed to provide any concrete examples of where they would improve the quality of life for East Brunswick citizens or how they would save dollars. On the other hand, Pinkin, Contrino and Stahl have years of proven success as leaders. We promised to control spending and provide efficient and effective municipal government and we have delivered on that promise. We are proud of our track record of success.

4) While I respect the desire of all the candidates who seek public office during these challenging times, my experience, expertise and resolve to improve East Brunswick exceed any Republican candidate running for Council. I have proven myself through a lifetime of personal and professional achievement and in my track record of success on East Brunswick Township Council. I respectfully ask for your vote in November so that I can continue to work with you to keep East Brunswick a great place to work, live and prosper. I support open, respectful government; fiscal responsibility, shared services and tax relief; business development; and to promote environmental issues and quality of life in the great town of East Brunswick.
