Planners Approve CVS and Bank

Plan calls for new buildings at the corner of Route 18 and W. Ferris Street, replacing to existing homes in East Brunswick.

The township Planning Board approved construction of a new CVS and bank at the northeast corner of Route 18 and West Ferris Street.

According to plans on file at the Planning Department, the Coremark Group of Wyckoff wants to build a 14,600-square-foot CVS and a 3,900-square-foot bank on the corner.

The proposal was approved unanimously Wednesday night.

The CVS would have a drive-through and be open 24 hours a day. On the property now is a Midas Muffler, which would remain; and two, one-and-a-half-story residences, which would be removed.

According to the plans, to the south and west of the site is an office complex, bank and strip mall. To the south is an area zoned for office and commercial use, and to the east is an unused parking lot.

In addition, plans call for the CVS to be built on a 79,691-square-foot lot with frontage on Route 18 north and West Ferris Street. The lot for the bank will be 40,000 with frontage on West Ferris Street.

Plans call for 107 parking spaces to support both buildings. The developer is only required to provide for 73 spots for the CVS (76 are provided) and 20 for the bank (32 are proposed.)
