Primary Elections Are Tuesday

Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

While the Republicans and Democrats have just about settled on who will run for President in November, there are still local elections to deal with.

In East Brunswick, four people will be vying for two seats on the Township Council and two are seeking to serve as mayor. On Tuesday, each is seeking their party’s nomination to run in November.

On the Democrat side, incumbents Nancy Pinkin and Denise Contrino will seek four-year terms, and Mayor David Stahl will seek to serve a second term.

On the Republican side, Eugene DeMarco will challenge Mayor Stahl, and Jim Johnson and Synnove Bakke will seek seats on the council.

Also seeking their party’s nominations are Democrats U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, U.S. Rep. Rush Holt, Surrogate Kevin J. Hoagland, Freeholders H. James Polos and Ronald C. Rios. Republicans seeking their party’s nominations include Bader G. Qarmount, Joe Rulo, Joe Kyrillos, and David Douglas Brown, for U.S. Senator.

The winners of the June primary will run for office in the November General Election. Polls in East Brunswick are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
