Recreation Fees to increase in 2011

Increase is attempt to get fees to cover entire cost of programs.

The East Brunswick Township Council approved an increase in fees for 2011 Township Recreation Department programs, Jan. 10.

The fees are across the board and are an attempt to cover the “real cost” of running the programs through tuition. In the past, fees for programs, such as summer camp, cover the cost of the program itself and the staff needed. It did not cover associated costs, such as the full-time staff used to organize and implement the offerings.

“We’ve been moving toward the actual and real cost of the programs,” said Mike Reissner, manger of the Division of Recreation and Community Services.
