Township Among Those Contracting with Engineer Tied to PACs

CME, which works for township, contributed more than a half-million dollars to political action committees in Middlesex County.

CME Associates, the Howell-based engineering firm that has donated more than $600,000 to 10 Middlesex County political action committees over the last four years, has contracts with several towns with pay-to-play bans on the books.

Politicians and political groups in those towns, according to a report on NJ.com, received $360,000 from the PACs. East Brunswick and South Brunswick are among nine towns to receive money and to have contracts with CME, according to the report.

The NJ.com report characterizes the contributions and contracts as skirting pay-to-play rules.
