Vote in School Elections Today

Today is the day! Voters finally get their say on a $108,924,563 tax levy. Polls are open from 2 to 9 p.m.

The district’s $128 million 2011-2012 school budget calls for eliminating 25 teachers and a school tax rate increase of 9.88 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. That means the owner of a home assessed at $100,000 can expect to pay $98.80 more in school taxes next year. Also on the ballot are four candidates for school board. Incumbents , Todd Simmens and  are seeking re-election, and is hoping to win a seat for the first time.
