You Said It Monday: Are You Voting in the School Election?

Will you be heading to the polls Wednesday to vote in the school election?

Welcome to "You Said It," East Brunswick Patch’s video feature. Each week we’ll pose a new question and go out into the community to see what local residents think. A new video will be posted right here every day Monday through Friday.

This week Patch asked some East Brunswick mothers if they’re voting in the school election on Wednesday. That’s when voters will get their say on the district’s $128 million spending plan that calls for eliminating 25 full time teachers. The budget carries a $108,924,563 school tax levy and calls for a school tax rate increase of 9.88 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. That means the owner of a home assessed at $100,000 can expect to pay $98.80 more in school taxes next year. Also on the ballot are four candidates for school board. Incumbents , Todd Simmens and  are seeking re-election, and is hoping to win a seat for the first time.
