Inside Jersey, a magazine produced by the Star Ledger, used a "proprietary formula" to chart trends in student achievement over the past four years.
The magazine used data from the state's High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA), SAT scores and other data in its calculations to dole out letter grades. The full report can be seen here on NJ.com.
East Brunswick High School was given an 'A' grade for "above average scores, below average growth." The composite SAT score at East Brunswick was 1686.
The student achievement was calculated at 0.8 percent from 2008-12, the time period for the study.
