Town Forum on Medicare

U.S. Rep Rush Holt is coming to town.

Rep. Holt and Jaye Weisman, regional administrator for the centers for Medicare and Medicaid, will hold a senior forum on medicare at the East Brunswick Senior on Wednesday, May 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Fiscal Year 2012 budget, as passed by the U.S. House of Representatives over Rep. Holt’s strong objections, would change Medicare for current and future beneficiaries.  Individuals currently under 55 years of age would no longer be eligible for traditional Medicare; rather, they would receive a voucher to buy insurance on the private insurance market.  The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that, as a result of this measure, seniors’ out-of-pocket health care costs would double.
