Sam Mattis won the discus at the Group IV Track and Field Championships Friday with a throw of 204-feet 3-inches. His 204-foot throw was more than 20-feet better than any throw from all the groups at both the Old Bridge site and the South Plainfield site.
Leonard Lockhart-Robbins won two medals Friday placeing second in the 400 meter dash with a time 48.37 and third in 100 meter dash in a time of 11.51.
Mattis and Lockhart-Robbins both have qualified for the State Meet of Champions next Thursday.

The meet continues tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. at Old Bridge's Lombardi Field at Carl Sandburg Middle School. Leonard Lockhart-Robbins will be looking for his third individual medal in the 200 meter dash and will also anchor the 4x400 meter relay which is the No. 1 seed in the event. Mattis will also compete in the shot put where he is the No. 1 seed based on his performance at last week's sectional meet.
