East Brunswick Girls' Tennis Team Advances in Playoffs

Up next for the Bears is Marlboro, on Tuesday.

The second-seeded East Brunswick High School girls' tennis team remained undefeated with a 4-1 win over No. 15 Old Bridge in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 playoffs, according to nj.com.

East Brunswick picked up victories at first and third singles and both doubles. The Bears forfeited their second singles match.

First singles player Jennifer Chen picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nicole Azarian, while third singles player Danna Tsay downed Abbhirami Siddarthan by the same score.

Adelina Begu and Antoinette Gayo picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win in their first doubles match against Vivian Li and Renee Wornowick. Anaya Prakash and Kaitlin Wang defeated Monica Sung and Katherine Tsang, 6-2, 6-2.

East Brunswick improved its record to 10-0.  East Brunswick will now host No. 7 Marlboro on Tuesday.

Monroe 44, East Brunswick 0: One week after posting its first victory of the season, East Brunswick was shut out. The Bears (1-3) returns to the field Friday  when they host Manalapan.

Boys' soccer

East Brunswick 2, Peddie 1: Adam Rosa scored twice, with assists from Noah Levine and Luke Smalley. Goalie Dennis Kotenko made four saves.

Girls' soccer

East Brunswick 3, J.P. Stevens 0: East Brunswick improved to 10-0-1 behind a goal and an assist from Sydney Rosa. Carla LaRocca and Katrina Nguyen-Demary also had goals. Ellie DiLiberto and Margaret Lee each contributed assists. Goalie Alex Kalafor made five stops.

East Brunswick 2, Peddie 0: Katrina Nguyen-Demary and Kaitlin Roughan each scored in the win. Sydney Rosa and Gabrielle Sachs each provided assists. Goalie Alex Kalafor made two saves.
