East Brunswick Woman Hurt in South Brunswick Accident

The 70-year-old was critically injured in the four-car crash.

An East Brunswick woman in her 70s was critically injured in an accident at approximately 8 a.m. today on Route 553 in South Brunswick.

According to South Brunswick Police, a 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling north on Route 535 when it crossed into oncoming traffic before striking three vehicles. The East Brunswick woman, who was driving a 2001 Toyota, was trapped as a result of the crash, police said. The Monmouth Junction Fire Department extricated the victim from her vehicle.

Police reopened Route 535 following the accident. The Kendall Park First Aid Squad then took her to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
