EBHS Grad Carbone Has a Great Summer on the Pitch

Gabriella Carbone was selected as one of the top 11 players for the U-18 National Championship Series.

Gabriella Carbone a 2011 graduate of East Brunswick High School and Central New Jersey Silver Bullets soccer club alumni www.cnjsb.org captured a gold medal at the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships played in Rock Hill SC July 23 through 29.

The FC Pennsylvania Strikers soccer team captured a gold medal and Carbone was selected  one of the top 11 players for the U-18 girls Soccer National Championship Series. Gabriella became one of the team’s leading scorers upon her return from college. This was FC Pennsylvania’s third final four appearance and it proved to be a charm as the team captured it’s first gold.

“Jim McLoughlin and Dave Shaw are the best and go out of their way to help the players on and off the field,” said Gabriella. “It was fun to play with such a committed group of girls. Most of the team travels over an hour and a half just to train.  All of the players are highly recruited by top colleges in the country.

“It was great to have my family there as well  they never miss a game. They drove over 11 hours to the event so I knew I had to play well. My parents always say ‘we came all this way, please entertain us.’ Playing with such fantastic teammates is already an honor, but being selected as one of the top performers in the tournament was a great honor. I was proud to represent my FC Penn teammates and coaches and family.   This will add to the Gold Medal I received playing on the New Jersey Olympic Development team. Now, I hope we can win one at LaSalle University. “

Gabriella is College Sophomore and plays soccer at D1 LaSalle University in Philadelphia http://www.goexplorers.com/.
