Purim in Outer Space

Event: Mega Purim Community Wide Family Celebration 
Where: Middlesex County 4-H Club on Cranbury and Fern Road, East Brunswick 
When: Sunday, March 20, 2011, 4:00PM

“That was awesome!” said 11-year old Lee Goldstein of East Brunswick, after his attendance at last year’s Purim in Hawaii celebration. “Can’t wait to see what next year’s theme is!” With over 300 people in attendance, and growing, Chabad of East Brunswick’s Purim event is one of the hottest youth and family celebrations in East Brunswick. This year’s theme will kick off “Purim in Outer Space”, and features a live, 3-D Laser-Light show across the 4-H ballroom on Cranbury & Fern Road. Each participant will also receive their very own framed, glow-in-the-dark name-art. The children will hear the Megillah reading, music, and exciting games. Come dressed up in your coolest space gear masquerade for our Moon-Walk fashion show.

Purim, the Jewish holiday celebrating Purim, celebrating the salvation of the Jewish people, in the year 356 BCE, from Haman, a tyrant’s evil plot "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day,” is observed by public readings of the Megillah - "Scroll of Esther," sending appreciate food portions to friends, giving gifts of money to the poor, and enjoying a festive meal with family and friends.

The event takes place on Sunday March 20th, beginning at 4:00pm. The cost of the event is $10/child, $15/adult, and $50/family. To become a sponsor for the event, please call East Brunswick Chabad for information.
