Staying positive can help you reach your goals

Since I have been in the health field for over 20 years, there is one common factor that I find among a lot people, and that is, a low self esteem.  Self esteem is used to describe a person's overall sense of self-worth or personal value. It is often seen as a personality trait, which means that it tends to be stable and enduring. Self-esteem can involve a variety of beliefs about the self, such as the appraisal of one's own appearance, beliefs, emotions and behaviors.  One 's weight can effect your self esteem. It can hold you back because you do not believe in the positive in yourself. Experts say that people with low self esteem tend to eat more as a defense mechanism.

I am going to give everyone a few tips that will hopefully help you improve your self esteem, and show you that YOU ARE so worth it, and awesome! I like to tell everyone in my classes or that I train...the words " I can't" do NOT exist. If you tell me that you can not do an exercise , I will help you find a way to modify it so eventually you will be able to do it.  If someone says that they can't give up dairy or corn or whatever it is, we will find a way, even it if we take baby steps. I like to be positive, and want everyone in my classes or in my private sessions to be positive too. We need to get rid of the negative thoughts. If you say I don't have time to workout today, instead say... I will find the time to get it in my workout today!!

Another thing to remember is to let the  past go and move on.  Don't let it hold back. Make that be your motivation to move on! Do not be hard yourself, if you are reading this blog, it means that you have already taken the first steps in improving your life. So congratulate yourself, clap it for yourself and move forward! Praise yourself as you are going on this journey, every time you lose a pound, go down a pants size, do an extra sit up or push up- give yourself or someone near you a high five! Treat yourself every now and then, get a massage, a new shirt or go to the beach and relax.

My last recommendation is that you keep a journal with your weight loss progress, your fitness progress, measurements, and pictures. It will be very motivational to keep looking back as you see your progress!! Stay positive!
