Down the Shore: Beach Run, Boat Poker, Carnival

Fireworks are through, barbecues are shuttered, but there's still plenty to do down the shore this weekend. Whether you're looking for family-friendly fun, or some fun nightlife, check out this weekend's best bets:   

EVENTS

There's fun for the whole family with the annual  from 2 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at in Howell. The day will feature rides, food, music, vendors, a watermelon eating contest and more. Cooling stations will be available as a respite from the anticipated heat.

Ocean City will host the third annual  at 6 p.m. Friday on the beach, with a 5K race at 40th Street as well as a 1-mile fun run and kids' fun run. The run is in honor of Ocean City visitor Sam Robb, an athlete from Georgia who died at age 20 in 2007. For a full schedule of events, .

More than  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the in Wall Township. Artisans will feature everything from museum-quality pieces to country crafts and more. Food and beverages will be available, and there is a $5 parking fee. 

Fair Haven will celebrate its along the Navesink River from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Use your own boat/canoe/kayak or borrow a wooden canoe to cruise to five locations, picking up playing cards along the way. The three best hands win centennial medallions. The ReVision Theatre will present its at 8 p.m. Friday at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park. Tickets range from $20 to $100; click here to order. 

The returns to Red Bank Saturday and Sunday, with hundreds of classic cars lining White Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free for visitors. Participants are required to pay a registration fee; $12 prior to the show, $15 on the day of the show and $10 for motorcycles. For more information email herknan@aol.com.
