Village Swim Club to Open for the Season Saturday

Village Swim Club is located on Tower Center Boulevard in East Brunswick.

East Brunswick's most known place to beat the heat may be Crystal Springs, but another township swimming spot is getting ready to open up for the summer months.

Village Swim Club is a member-run swim club located on Tower Center Boulevard.

The club will officially open for its 50th year on Saturday, offering local families a spot to spend the summer months by the pool, barbecuing, or playing outside.

The club, which is tucked away at the end of Tower Center Boulevard, in a quiet and shady spot behind a hotel and Route 18, is entirely run by members, with between 40-50 families enrolled last summer, said member Laura Gibbons.

Additionally, the swim club offers a camp for children in kindergarten through eighth grade: "Camp Funabilities" includes a full program of group activities and personal well-being in addition to swimming and exercise, Gibbons said.

Gibbons said the club is an "intimate" one that is family-friendly, and offers a variety of events throughout the summer, including a luau, a tiki party and evening gatherings for adults to socialize while their children swim.

"We like the family closeness," she said.

The club also has its own competitive swim team, open to children between the ages of 4-17.

A family membership at Village Swim Club is $685 for the season, and includes free swim lessons, membership on the club swim team, access to water aerobics, water Zumba and water polo classes at the club, and admission to social gatherings and barbecues at the club, according to the swim club website.

Adult couple, individual, and weekend/evening/holidays memberships are also available
