VFW Works to Help Wounded Soldier

Golf outing will benefit Monroe Marine who lost his legs in Afghanistan.

VFW Post 133 wants to help one of its own.

The post, along with other area organizations, have been working to help Marine Colin Pascik of Monroe, who lost his legs in 2010 while serving in Afghanistan. After a successful spaghetti dinner in the spring, the post will hold a golf outing at the on July 18,

Tickets are $115 and include fees, 18 holes, golf courts, a 50/50 and a buffet dinner at the post later that night. Awards will be given for the two longest drives, a closest to the pin challenge and a putting challenge on the practice green.

Pascik went to Afghanistan in April 2010. Soon after he was hit by a pressure plate IED while serving as a point-man with his squad. The blast took both his legs and damaged his left arm. The soldier is now at Walter reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where his is learning to walk again on prosthetic legs.

Applications can be picked up at the VFW at 485 Cranbury Road. For those who are interested, it will cost $50 to sponsor a hole. Proceeds form the event will go to Colin’s Road to Recovery Fund.
