Casino Night, Marimba Concert Highlight East Brunswick Weekend

Saturday Stitch Drop-In Session, East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center, East Brunswick, 10 a.m.

Whether you do knitting, crochet, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, embroidery or other needlework, come drop in at your convenience for tips and enjoy Sandy Kandel's expert advice and the camaraderie of fellow crafters. There will be a sign-in sheet, and Sandy will give one-on-one advice in order of the sign-ins. All levels welcome. This is a regular monthly program on second Saturdays. 

So You Want To Be A Writer, Monroe Township Public Library, 4 Municipal Plaza, Monroe Township, 2 p.m.

Join New Jersey authors, Jon Gibbs (moderator); Anthony Giordano; Rachelle Burk; Jeff Markowitz, and Sharon Trembley, for a fun, informative discussion on the perils, pitfalls and often pleasant surprises which await you on your journey to publication and beyond. 

Casino Night, East Brunswick Elks Lodge 2370, 21 Oakmont Ave # B, East Brunswick, 7 p.m.

Join the Karma Cat and Zen Dog Rescue Society for some gambling fun to benefit the animals. Try your luck at the money wheel and play classic table games, such as craps, roulette, and poker. Winnings will be transferred into raffle tickets at the end of the night for a chance to win fabulous prizes. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include play money, raffle ticket, and hor d'oeuvres. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. World-acclaimed marimba player, Greg Giannascoli, comes to the stage to present an informative and memorable performance of the highest caliber.  Winner of numerous prestigious international music competitions and faculty member at Julliard’s Pre-College, his performances have been praised as “nothing less than astonishing” and “a startling display of clarity and precision.” Giannascoli has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.  Find out why the critics are raving.  Selections will include “Rhapsody in Blue,” “I Got Rhythm,” and “I Feel Pretty,” ”Somewhere” and “America” from West Side Story.
