East Brunswick High School has a comprehensive curriculum that is evaluated on an ongoing basis. The school has been designated as a School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. EBHS was named the best high school in the state in the April 1996 edition of Redbook magazine. A year later it was named the best high school in New Jersey. That same year, the New Jersey Department of Education named it a Star School. In 1999, The Star-Ledger said it was one of the schools that colleges recognize as having the best prepared students. The 2004 Middle States Accreditation Team said EBHS is one of the finest schools in the country.
The mean SAT score for the Class of 2010 was 1697. In spring 2010, students took 1,052 AP exams with 95 percent receiving a passing grade of 3 or higher. Approximately 97 percent of students go on to post-secondary education with 76 percent going on to four-year institutions of higher education. Sixty-five percent of seniors are enrolled in AP courses and/or college courses at the high school offered through Middlesex County College.
