The school is located in the rear of Trinity Presbyterian and next to Central School. The school plans to join the Campus for Jewish Life to build a permanent home on  CJL's Dutch Road property. The 10.5-acre Dutch Road site will include athletic fields, tennis courts, new playground equipment and a pool. 

Students are selected for enrollment using annual lotteries, one for East Brunswick residents and one for students from outside the township.

The school's outdoor courtyard is a focal point of the school with assemblies and classroom activities taking place there. The school also focuses on technology, with parents and teachers communicating through individual teacher websites, which allow students and parents to keep up with what's happening in the classroom. Promethean boards and computers can be found in the classrooms and access to video streaming allows teachers to download videos and clips to enhance their lesson delivery in a wide variety of content areas. The Technology Lab is utilized by entire classes for various activities, from publishing original works to researching and completing a Web Quest for preparing PowerPoint presentations.

East Brunswick High School has a comprehensive curriculum that is evaluated on an ongoing basis. The school hasMore been designated as a School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. EBHS was named the best high school in the state in the April 1996 edition of Redbook magazine. A year later it was named the best high school in New Jersey. That same year, the New Jersey Department of Education named it a Star School. In 1999, The Star-Ledger said it was one of the schools that colleges recognize as having the best prepared students. The 2004 Middle States Accreditation Team said EBHS is one of the finest schools in the country. 

The mean SAT score for the Class of 2010 was 1697. In spring 2010, students took 1,052 AP exams with 95 percent receiving a passing grade of 3 or higher. Approximately 97 percent of students go on to post-secondary education with 76 percent going on to four-year institutions of higher education. Sixty-five percent of seniors are enrolled in AP courses and/or college courses at the high school offered through Middlesex County College.

It has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. In addition to general studies courses, the school has an extensive Jewish Studies curriculum which includes Hebrew language arts, text study in Torah, Navi, mishnah and gemarra, tefilla (prayer), Israel studies, Jewish ethics and values and diverse Jewish traditions.
