Coach Robert "Bo" Henning is leaving as EBHS varsity mens basketball coach after capturing the NJSIAA Section 4 title.
Robert “Bo” Henning started coaching basketball for East Brunswick High School 25 years ago and measures success not just by wins, but by the people he came to know along the way. “I’ve gotten so much from this,” said Henning, who announced last week that he will be stepping down as Bears coach. “I’ll miss it so much. You build such great relationships with the kids, and often times the parent, and with other coaches. That’s what I’m going to miss. I wouldn’t even rule out getting back into coaching.” Coach Henning’s final season was perhaps his greatest. Finishing with a 26-4 record, the Bears captured the NJSIAA Championship Section 4 crown this season, the squad’s first. During his tenure, Henning’s teams won or shared the Red Division …

The Boys basketball team opens state tournament play 7 p.m. tonight at East Brunswick High School
Coach Bo Henning and his boys’ basketball team are hoping to stay home for the next week. As the first seed in the Central Jersey Group 4 NJSIAA Championship tournament, the East Brunswick Bears will have home court advantage throughout the tournament, provided they win every game beginning with tonight’s match up against 16th seed Monroe. Despite a disappointing, double overtime loss to St. Joseph’s in the County Championship Friday, Coach Henning likes the team’s chances this week. “Obviously we’re disappointed in the outcome the other day, but we’re certainly not disappointed in the output and the play,” he said. “We just came up a little bit short. We had a couple chances that we didn’t take advantage of.” Even with the loss, the team …

East Brunswick got it's first chance to show how got it is by defeateding Perth Amboy Friday 30-61.
The East Brunswick High School boys basketball team has a combined 41 wins the past two seasons. According to Coach Bo Henning, don't expect to see much of a change this year. "Our scrimmages have gone well," Henning said. "The kids have done a good job to prepare for the season. If I don't mess it up, we should have a good season." Henning was just having some fun. He's in his 24th year on the job and guided the team to a 21-5 mark last season. He knows what he's doing. "We have a chance to be really good," Henning said. "We have a good nucleus back from last season. We lost five players, but only one starter." East Brunswick has five guys back that were at least part-time starters last season. Included in that group are Mike Summerer and…
