Colin Borden is camping out in front of Best Buy for first crack at this year's doorbusters.
It’s still more than a day away, but for some, Black Friday is already here. Sort of. On Wednesday morning, Colin Borden of South River was camped outside of Best Buy on Route 18 in East Brunswick, getting ready for the store’s Black Friday opening. The store opens at midnight Thanksgiving Day. “I did it a lot in high school and we always made it a big party,” said Borden. “Once people start lining up, it’ll be a good time.” So what’s he waiting for? He plans on picking up a Blue Ray player, and two televisions, a 55-inch and a 40-inch, as well as the Xbox Bundle. But between now and then, he’ll be spending time on his laptop, inside of his tent, and on the generosity of friends and family to bring him Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Follow …

As NJ TRANSIT continues its storm-recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the agency is gearing up to offer nearly normal Thanksgiving service levels on most of its lines to ensure customers’ travel plans go smoothly over the holiday weekend. Black Friday will start earlier than ever this season.
When the last plate is cleaned, and the last bit of cider drank, and Thanksgiving is winding down, many people will head out the doors earlier than ever for some Black Friday shopping, the biggest shopping day of the year. “We’ve been working on staffing for a while,” said Best Buy Manager Roman Zielonka. "We probably started preparing two or three months ago. There is lots of training, with learning how the TVs work, the tables, and phones work.” Zielonka said that this year, rather than hiring seasonal help, many permanent employees offered to work extra hours.
